Online casino play is legal in Ontario on sites that belong to the province's regulated market. This page explains how to tell which sites those are.
The regulated market
Ontario's regulated online gambling market opened on April 4, 2022. Two bodies share the work, and their roles differ. iGaming Ontario conducts and manages the market. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, known as the AGCO, regulates it. Both names come up again below, since iGaming Ontario also publishes the list of regulated sites.
The legal age is 19, for online gambling and for casinos alike. That matches the line drawn at the doors of Pickering Casino Resort and Casino Ajax. Both venues ask for a valid, original government-issued photo ID and a secondary photo ID on entry. Online, the same age of 19 applies to every account holder.
Checking a site
iGaming Ontario publishes the list of regulated online gambling sites at igamingontario.ca. Checking a site starts with finding its name there. If a site is not on that list, it is not part of Ontario's regulated market. A polished design or an Ontario address in the footer does not change that.
OLG.ca is the online site of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the provincial agency. BetGuard, covered below, includes OLG.ca in its exclusions. The iGaming Ontario list is where a site's standing gets confirmed, one name at a time.
Stopping and getting help
BetGuard, at betguard.ca, lets a person exclude themselves from all regulated Ontario gambling sites, OLG.ca included. iGaming Ontario has run it since May 14, 2026. Terms are 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or a custom length. It does not cover land-based casinos.
For casinos, OLG's My PlayBreak offers self-exclusion for 3 or 6 months or 1 to 5 years. Enrolment goes through the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098, on-site staff or a PlaySmart Centre. The term cannot be cancelled early. ConnexOntario offers free, confidential help 24/7: call 1-866-531-2600, text CONNEX to 247247, or chat at connexontario.ca.
Paid links on this site
This guide is independent: it is not a casino, takes no bets and has no accounts. Paid links appear only on the home page, marked Ad. There are three: one in the menu, one below the first screen and one near the end, all leading to the same online casino partner. The site earns a commission from that partner, and the partner can change. This page carries no paid links.
